It’s helpful to bring all relevant information to an assessment meeting and for foster care assessments this is typically a list of the identity documents, financial information and health information that you would be prepared to provide.

Proof of Identity

You will need to provide 2 forms of ID, such as a current utility bill or bank statement with your address on it, and your passport or driving licence.

Financial Records

Recent copies of your payslips, bank statements and details of any benefit you receive. If you are self-employed this would include a copy of your last Tax Return or accounts.

Health Information

Details About Your Home

You may want to bring information regarding your home such as the number of bedrooms (including spare rooms), details of sleeping arrangements and details of garden and/or outdoor spaces.

Everyone in the Household

Write down full names, dates of birth and relationships for all people living in your home including any adult children. This is how fostering is regulated in Wales as described by Children in Wales on the Children in Wales web site.

References

2 or 3 personal referees – people who know you well enough and who the agency can contact to discuss your application. These could be former employers, or friends and family (who are not part of your household) who have known you for a long time.
